Donation of Equipment against Avian Flu and Medical Supplies to the Ministry of Health

On February 25, Ambassador Jeanine Jackson made a donation of equipment and medical supplies worth 472 million francs CFA to the Ministry of Health. The donation consisted of equipment to fight against avian flu provided by USAID as well as medical supplies given by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in partnership with the US Department of Defense.

In a ceremony to handover the supplies to the Ministry of Health, Ambassador Jackson said "the devastating character of avian influenza requires an adequate method of diagnosis and prevention to contain a possible outbreak." The Ambassador also pointed out the various products donated by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and the role played by the U.S. Department of Defense to transport the supplies to Burkina Faso. The Minister of Health Bedouma Alain Yoda assured that all measures would be taken to ensure that the storage and distribution of the supplies maintain the quality of the products until it reaches the beneficiaries.
