Warden Message: Koudougou Demonstration on March 5
This Warden Message is being issued to alert U.S. Citizens traveling to and residing in Burkina Faso that sources have informed the Embassy that an unauthorized demonstration is planned to take place in Koudougou tomorrow, Wednesday, March 5, 2008. Reports from a variety of sources indicate that anti-riot police from Ouagadougou have been dispatched to Koudougou to assist in controlling potential rioters.
As with any demonstration we wish to remind American citizens that even demonstrations intended to be peaceful can turn confrontational and possibly escalate into violence. American citizens are therefore urged to avoid the areas of demonstrations and to exercise caution if within the vicinity of any demonstrations.
