American Language Center teachers get Internet training

On Tuesday, June 24, Susan Strand, English Language Fellow in Ouagadougou, and Daouda Sanguisso, English instructor at the American Language Center, facilitated a four-hour, hands-on workshop for 11 American Language Center English instructors at the American Cultural Center.  During the workshop, teachers explored online tools and resources for English language texts suitable for English language instruction.  This program served to increase awareness of the Internet as a resource for English language teachers. By increasing access to online resources and pedagogical materials, teachers will be better able to respond to the instructional needs of their students while providing valuable practice navigating the Internet. With the tools provided in this training, ALC English instructors will be better equipped to introduce computer-assisted language learning into their classrooms.  This workshop also made teachers aware of the availability of online training through the international English teaching association, TESOL.  Teachers responded enthusiastically and requested more workshops of this kind.
