Conference on Religion Tolerance and Interfaith Dialogue

More than one hundred representatives of religious organizations, Christian and Muslim, students, journalist and academics turned out September 29 for a major post program on religious tolerance and interfaith dialogue.  The program featured four panelists, recent IV returnees from the US Political Processes Program for Young Muslim Leaders” and two participants in the recent Bamako conference on Interfaith Dialogue.

 

The program was introduced by Charge d’Affaires Sam Laeuchli who thanked the panel and noted the parallel American and Burkinabe traditions of tolerance and transparency between confessional groups.  APAO Cornelius Walsh moderated the discussion which followed the panel’s presentation.

 

After this program, the Mission strengthen ties with CERFI, the major Mulsim social organization in Ouagadougou, there have been wider appreciation of US interest in and support for interfaith dialogue and toleration, good media coverage of conference and an  increased interest and understanding by young Burkinabe in attendance in American society and policies.
