University of Ouagadougou English Club members listening to TOEFL exam presentation.

American Language Center Director speaks to University English Club

On Thursday, December 15, 2011, Lynn Hanson Ouédraogo, Director of the American Language Center of the U.S. Embassy visited the University of Ouagadougou English Club and led a discussion on gender roles and women’s choices in American society.  Speaking to a group of 75 English Club members, she also presented information on the TOEFL exam, including testing strategies, and a question and answer session.  Mrs. Ouedraogo also took advantage of the meeting to introduce students to their new English Language Fellow, Mr. Don Johnson, who has come to Ouagadougou on a 10-month fellowship to teach courses in the English Department as part of a collaborative program between the University of Ouagadougou and the U.S. Department of State.  Supporting programs with the University of Ouagadougou English Department and English Club demonstrates the US Embassy’s on-going commitment to promote English instruction and improve English proficiency in academic institutions of Burkina Faso.
