Warden Message

U.S. Embassy - Burkina Faso

This is Warden Message is being issued to alert American citizens that the Government of Burkina Faso has announced that all private and public Burkinabe schools will be closed on Thursday, February 28, in the capital, Ouagadougou. As indicated in the February 20 Warden Message, the Embassy has learned through police sources that Thursday, February 28 is a potential date for demonstrations in Ouagadougou.

Please note, the International School of Ouagadougou has decided to remain open on February 28, and will operate on a normal schedule.

We wish to remind American citizens that even demonstrations intended to be peaceful can turn confrontational and possibly escalate into violence. American citizens are therefore urged to avoid the areas of demonstrations if possible, and to exercise caution if within the vicinity of any demonstrations.
