Ceremony Celebrating the Successful Completion of the July 2008 Vacation English Courses at the American Language Center
On Saturday July 26, 2008, the American Language Center held a ceremony marking the end of the English language summer course of July 2008. Each year, the American Language Center organizes courses in July and August to allow middle and high school students the opportunity to improve their English. This year, July courses ran from June 30 to July 25. During the four weeks, the students had 80 hours of instruction, which included two hours of English and two hours of camp activities (music, word games, etc.) a day. For the first time, American Peace Corps Volunteers participated in the session, leading new activities focusing on social awareness and environmental problems.
During the graduation ceremony, the Peace Corps teachers expressed their happiness for the success of the session and thanked the students for their enthusiasm. Then, the Acting Director of the American Language Center thanked the parents and students for their trust and confidence in the program. Finally, the Director of the American Cultural Center, Mrs. Joann Lockard, congratulated the parents because in improving the English language ability of their children, they are investing in their future. She encouraged the students to continue their English studies to give them the opportunity to study in America and to be proficient in this increasingly important language. The finale of the ceremony was the presentation of the students; each class prepared a skit, song, or poem to perform before receiving their Certificates.
