U.S. Defense Official Visits Burkina Faso
The American Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Africa, Vicki Huddleston, is visiting Burkina Faso June 30 – July 3. Responsible for international security affairs and policy guidance in connection with Africa at the U.S. Department of Defense, the Deputy Assistant Secretary is touring four West African countries – Senegal, Mali, Burkina and Tchad. She is meeting with her African Defense Ministry counterparts, as well as other government officials, to discuss bilateral military relations, regional security concerns, and military-to-military cooperation programs. Prior to her current assignment at the Department of Defense, she served as a career diplomat in Africa and Latin America. She was ambassador to Madagascar and to Mali, as well as Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Africa.
