Festival Dialogue de Corps with American Cultural Envoy Esther Baker

“Dialogue de Corps," a dance/arts workshop & festival organized by the Choreographic Development Center, was held in Ouagadougou from December 9 to December 23, 2006. American Cultural Envoy Esther Baker worked with three dance groups and gave two performances at the Choreographic Development Center. Ms. Baker also met with university students at the American Cultural Center; her presentation on dance was so enthusiastically received that they invited her to hold a dance class at the University of Ouagadougou, which she did. The dance workshops drew dance companies from outside of Burkina Faso, as well as local dance troupes. Participants had the opportunity to meet other dancers and choreographers, and to learn from Ms. Baker. The festival gave participants a broader understanding of the fine arts, and of professional opportunities available to dancers and choreographers.
