2008 Commercial Guide

Chapter 4 - Leading Sectors for U.S. Export and Investment

Chapter 4-6 Heavy Works Contracts (roads, dam construction, electricity projects)

The value of the heavy works contracts market is estimated at 5 billion CFAF per year (about USD 9.7 million) and is expected to increase with the newly-awarded Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) compact, the construction of a free trade zone and possibly a new airport on the outskirts of Ouagadougou.  The MCC compact is expected to total roughly $500 million over a five-year period, with signing expected by mid-2008.   About $350 million of this total would be for road infrastructure.
