On Tuesday January 22, 2008 the French Cultural Center launched the joint American Film Festival. The Director of the French Cultural Center, Mr. Denis Bisson, welcomed the audience of about 50 people to the opening movie of the festival, All About Eve with Bette Davis.  He highlighted the strong Franco-American relationship and ongoing cultural ties between the two countries.  The Director of the American Cultural Center, Ms. Joann Lockard, also made remarks; thanking Mr. Bisson for all that he did to arrange this year's festival.  She also mentioned that this is a renewal of the collaboration between the two cultural centers in Ouagadougou.  She hoped to continue this type of cooperation for many years to come.

The festival is taking place in the two Cultural Centers.  Every night from January 22, 2008 to January 31, 2008, the French Cultural Center will show the best American movies from the fifties and the American Cultural Center will show movies from the forties.  In March, Bobo Dioulasso will host a second festival for American movie lovers.
