ACSA Agreement Signed by Army Chief of Staff Brigadier General Ali Traore
On Wednesday, July 16, Army Chief of Staff Brigadier General Ali Traore, along with Charge d’Affaires David Brown, participated in a signing ceremony for the Acquisition and Cross-Servicing Agreement (ACSA). The ACSA is a bilateral military agreement with the United States that will improve the ability of Burkina Faso to contribute to worldwide military operations through the exchange of logistical support, supplies and services.
The ACSA is especially significant because it will allow the U.S. to support Burkinabe deployments for peacekeeping operations and humanitarian relief efforts. During the ceremony the Chargé d’Affaires noted the significance of U.S. and Burkinabe military cooperation and thanked General Traore for Burkina Faso’s pledge to send peace-keeping troops to Darfur. Two American representatives from the U.S. Military Command for Africa (AFRICOM) were also present for the ceremony, along with high ranking officials from the Burkinabe Ministry of Defense. This signing represents the 17th ASCA agreement in Africa.
