Access Microscholarship Program

As part of the U.S. Embassy’s Access Microscholarship Program, which involves English language instruction in three schools in Ouagadougou, the American Language Center held a graduation ceremony on Saturday July 19, 2008 to mark the end of the two-year program.  More than 100 students educated by this program and their family and friends attended the ceremony. The Chargé d’Affaires of the U.S. Embassy, assisted by the Director of the American Cultural Center, presided over the ceremony.

The student representatives unanimously emphasized the impact that this program had on them and thanked the U.S. Embassy and the American people for their generosity. In his remarks, Chargé d’Affaires Mr. David Brown underlined that the program was a generous gesture on behalf of the American people to the Burkinabe. He thanked the parents of the students for encouraging their children to learn English. He expressed gratitude to the leaders of the schools for their contribution to the success of the program.

In conclusion, he wished all the students the best for their future studies and professional life.
